The Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations denounces the escalation of hostile actions and threats by the United States, which now include the deployment of additional warships to the Caribbean, including the guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Erie and the nuclear-powered submarine USS Newport News. According to the statement from the permanent mission to the UN, Caracas calls for the "preservation of peace, security, and stability" in the region.
