A embarcação, registrada na Flórida, Estados Unidos, com o número de registro FL7726SH, aproximou-se a até 1 milha náutica a nordeste do canal El Pino, em Cayo Falcones, município de Corralillo, província de Villa Clara. Quando uma unidade de superfície da Guarda Costeira do Ministério do Interior, com cinco militares a bordo, aproximou-se da embarcação para identificação, a tripulação da lancha abriu fogo contra os militares cubanos, resultando no ferimento do comandante da embarcação cubana. Como consequência do confronto, até o momento deste relatório, quatro ocupantes da embarcação estrangeira foram mortos e seis ficaram feridos. Os feridos foram evacuados e receberam assistência médica. Diante dos desafios atuais, Cuba reafirma sua determinação em proteger suas águas territoriais, com base no princípio de que a defesa nacional é um pilar fundamental do Estado cubano para salvaguardar sua soberania e garantir a estabilidade na região. As investigações pelas autoridades competentes continuam para esclarecer completamente os acontecimentos.
